Atrocity Solution: Lost Remedies

Sound — 10
Atrocity Solution provides a unique twist in ska-punk music with their instrumentation. They use orchestral instruments such as violins and cellos in some songs on the album as well as the usual guitar, bass and drums. As for the singing, you will either take it of leave it. The vocals are intense for the most part, and you somewhat must like this style of music to fully appreciate this album. In short, it is not for people who listen to "normal" music. The drums throughout the album provide the perfect amount of presence from the low end of the kick drum to th punch of the snare.

The lyrics on this album are for the most part well written. There are some vocal harmonies, but mainly there are aggressive lead vocals. The singing style fits the music perfectly, which are both raw and up front. Once again, this type of singing can be seen as more of an acquired taste that is well worth liking. The last song on the album leans toward more of metal vocals. This is the only song on the album that sounds like this. It just adds to the wide range of sounds and styles heard throughout the entire album.

Overall Impression — 9
Atrocity Solution can be seen as a new addition to the genre known as "crack rock steady." They can be said to be picking up where bands such as Choking Victim left off. Some of the best songs off the album are "Picking Up the Pieces," "Watch the World Burn," and "Introduction Pt. 2." "Introduction Pt. 2" is the first song on the album, and it is well written. It is instrumental contaidrumstick orchestral instruments that slowly build up to the rest of the epic album. This is one of the albums that can be listened to straight through without any skips, and has countless replay value. Please support this band if you do happen to like them, they are not that big at all and can use your well deserved help.
