Sound — 10
The sound of City Of Evil is simply awesome. A rocking album through and through. There are great guitar leads and sweet riffs in every song. Gates has really improved his skills, and the solos are much better constructed on this album than on Waking The Fallen. There is a presence of more classic metal influence than hardcore on this album as well.

The lack of screaming was quite a change, and I do miss it. Even so, it's more reminiscent of old school metal at times because of this. Matt's voice is slightly more nasal now due to his throat surgery, but the difference isn't hard to get used to. I've always liked his voice. There are some lame lyrical moments, but overall, they're pretty good.
Overall Impression — 10
I must say that I enjoy it very much. I think I still prefer Waking The Fallen as of right now, but that could change with more listening to City Of Evil. I definately recommend picking it up and giving it a listen.
