Avenged Sevenfold: City of Evil

Sound — 10
First of all City Of Evil has a totally different sound to it than the the two previous A7X albums. Rather than sounding like a medalcore band they now have a more of a GN'R and Metallica (Load and Re-Load albums). This change of sound may leave some fans pissed off and others estatic. Because of throat surgery, singer M. Shadows can no longer scream like he used to, which is kind of a disapointment because he was so good at screaming. If you like the way he sings you'll probbally like the new sound, but if you didn't your out of luck. The guitar playing has been toned down a bit, it's still heavy but not as crazy as ther earlier albums. Also the musicianship in this album is superb. they now have orchestral parts to two of their songs (Strength Of The World and The Wicked End). Zacky and Synester now do beautiful harmonies and their are even some classical parts to some of their songs. For example some songs will start out heavy and slow down to acoustic or orchestral parts. At times this can be cool, other times it can be weird. A7X has gotten drasticly better as musicans. Zacky and Synester now do crazy harmonies! Over all this album is exccelent, some songs do not sound as if they were written by A7X, but it's still all goood. The change of sound is a breath of fresh air from the first two albums.

Lyrics — 8
Lyricly most of ht songs on this album are better and more diversified, rather than just being about death, suicide and lonleness, they range from a story about the city of evil (Beast And The Harlot) to the war Iraq (MIA) for the most part solid lyrics.

Overall Impression — 10
This is a breath of fresh air for the band their are so many diferent types of music on this album.
