Sound: Ben Harper's 1995 release "Fight For Your Mind" contains a gentle mix of acoustic harmonies, mega pumped bass riffs and soft meloncoly vocals. The album is mainly acoustic with backing drums and bass which lead to a pleasant range of emotions portrayed throughtout the cd, however later on there are a few songs which drag on. If you're listning conciously, it may feel like pulling teeth. Basicly it's a free flowing piece of musical celery. // 8

Lyrics: The lyrics are good, and varied, from a pro-marijuana campaign to the gospel truths. There's a mellow feels that's evident right from the word go that carries on through the entire album. On a bad note, the religious lyrics are not the most pleasant experience, saturating the second half in undertones of a worship cd. Ben harper is an extremely good song writer taking in the feel of the notes and corresponding that with the general air of his lyrics. // 8

Overall Impression: The cd overall is good, but not great simply for the fact that it does drone on about god and the likes. Compared with other Ben Harper albums, its more raw and more acoustic, therefore a must for those who are fans. Songs like Burn On Down and Opression are the most impressive, intergrating both sound lyrical ideas and harmonious guitars. Probably the most attractive aspect of the album is the ability to let you sit down and unconciously listen to it whilst doing other thing - it's one of those albums. My recommendation is to buy it if you're into softer music, otherwise you mighten appreciate it to it's fullest. // 10
