Black Sabbath: Paranoid

Sound — 10
This is Sabbath's second album and this sure got more fame than their first. With such nubers as "Paranoid" and "Iron Man" which is usually the two songs usually listened to by people getting introduced to them. Although there metal/hard rock you can still feel their blues and jazz influences such as Bill's drumming on "Faries Wear Boots" and the jazzy guitar on "Planet Carvan."

Lyrics — 10
The lyrics on this album are some Sabbath's best. The anti-war lyrics on the song "War Pigs" talking about politicians(Warpigs)starting war as if its a game. "Paranoid" is about some dude being paranoid and is going insane. "Faries Wear Boots" is about people smoking weed and start seeing things that arent there. Ozzy's voice is really mono tone like on "Iron Man" but they mix together so well with Tony and Geezer's guitar and bass.

Overall Impression — 10
This is usually the first album people get by Black Sabbath and it competes strong with the albums such as "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" and "Vol. 4." The most impresive songs would be "War Pigs" (which used to be called "Warpulgis"), "Paranoid" (which was written in 5 minutes extra studio time), "Electric Funeral," "Iron Man" and "Faries Wear Boots." This is a must if you love Sabbath and metal! I would defiantly buy this again if lost or stolen!
