Black Sabbath: Past Lives

Sound — 10
Well, the analog recordings of the late 60's and early 70's didn't sound great to begin with, so this live album actually sounds very good. Back then they didn't have access to all the fancy studio equipment and effects that we do today, so almost everything they recorded was definitely possible to replicate on stage, and this is a perfect example of one of the best live bands of that time. These guys were really the first to bring such a dark and energetic stage show, leaving people amazed at where music can be taken.

Lyrics — 10
Lyrics are very cool, especially for that time. Many still listened to Elvis back then, and when these guys came out and started singing about iron men and illusions and marijuana, it was very evil and adventurous for the time.

Overall Impression — 10
This is a live album, but one of the best by a great band. All of the songs are very impressive on this album, it's got great sound quality, and it is truly and impressive performance. I love the whole vintage feeling of the recording, and the live guitar tone of Iommi is very dark and intriguing, which really makes the music stand firm. If it were stolen, I would buy it again, because I do think it is one of the best live albums of all time, and it's got a great cover and booklet layout. Not to mention that it comes with a very cool poster and a Black Sabbath pick.
