Sound: First of all, the drumming Matt Traynor does on the album is fantastic. The double bass work on "Bottomfeeder" is amazing in my opinion. The rest of the band fills in nicely. The music is catchy at some points. The breakdowns have better quality than on Witness. // 10

Lyrics: The lyrics are similar to what Beau and Jared sang about on the last record, so I'm kind of disappointed. However, Beau's and Jared's vocal work have increased in quality. They added additional backing vocals from guitarist Eric Lambert, which increase the vocal quality of the album. // 9

Overall Impression: Compared to their last album with Beau, "Awakening" is a major improvement. They seemed to have clicked with each other and have created a really solid album. The lyrics compliment the music, and the musicianship is great. Another good album from a good band. // 10
