Dead Kennedys: The Early Years Live [DVD]

Sound — 9
Anybody who's heard the Dead Kennedys knows they have a distinctive sound, but most don't know they give an amazing show on stage as well. In this DVD, the Kennedys are young, louder, and faster then you've ever heard them. I don't know their names, but the lead guitarist keeps in time no matter when he messes up, he just hops back in in the middle of a solo, a good solo, just to state. Although the vocalist sounds way different then he does on a recording, he rocks out loud with his raspy vabrado. The rest of the band rocks to, but no one cares as much.

Content — 8
The content of this DVD is, obviously, a collection of live concerts in California from the bands begining. This DVD features some wellknown hits, such as California Uber Allies. The performance of that prticular song is amazing, but the vocalidt doesn't stop touching himself with a rubber glove. Scary.

Production Quality — 5
There are no technoligical tricks in this do to the fact its from the sixties and seventies. The footage isn't the best, but you still get the feeling of the Kennedys blowing your eardrums out of your head.

Overall Impression — 9
Overall, this DVD isn't the best Kennedys I've seen, but for any fan like me, it's a must have. Fans, go buy this already!

dude- first of all they werent around in the 60s and probably not 70s. fresh fruit for rotting vegetables wasnt released until the early 80s. secondly its "california uber alles" not "allies."

East Bay Ray is the guitarist. The band formed in the 78 iirc. As for the rest of the band that nobody cares about that would be Klaus Floride on bass and D.H. Peligro on drums. Though Ted was the first drummer and played on Fresh fruit. He quit to be a architect.

actually buddy, d.h. didn't join the band until after the release of fresh fruit, he replaced their original drummer ted, who left the band to pursue his dream of becoming an architect....
