Dead Kennedys: The Early Years Live [DVD]
Release Date: July 3, 2001
It features the seminal punk band Dead Kennedys, live from their early years at various venues, including the Mabuhay Gardens, the Sproul Plaza at Berkeley and at Target Studios between 1978 through 1981. In addition to 9 live songs, there is also hilarious news footage from Jello Biafra's notorious Mayoral candidacy in San Francisco (In which he came in fourth).

Sound: Anybody who's heard the Dead Kennedys knows they have a distinctive sound, but most don't know they give an amazing show on stage as well. In this DVD, the Kennedys are young, louder, and faster then you've ever heard them. I don't know their names, but the lead guitarist keeps in time no matter when he messes up, he just hops back in in the middle of a solo, a good solo, just to state. Although the vocalist sounds way different then he does on a recording, he rocks out loud with his raspy vabrado. The rest of the band rocks to, but no one cares as much. // 9

Overall Impression: Overall, this DVD isn't the best Kennedys I've seen, but for any fan like me, it's a must have. Fans, go buy this already! // 9
