Sound — 10
Down Form Up is and independent band from Knoxville Tennessee, and no they do not play country. They are easily one of my favorite bands. This is their first CD, which was originally recorded in 2004. The sound is so diverse on here. One minute your listening to and awesome power pop song, then you switch to acoustic love song, then a proto-metal face melter. The band consists of Erick Baker on vocals and acoustic guitar, Matt Brewster on keyboard and rhythm, and Andy Woods on lead guitar. To some of you the name Andy Woods may seem familiar, this would be due to his winning Guitar Center's Guitarmageddon 2003. So this band differently has the musical talent part covered.

Eric is and awesome singer. He has and amazing variety to his voice. On many tracks he reminds one of the early days of metal, while on slower acoustic tracks his slight southern accent bleeds through to add authenticity to the song. As for lyrics, their really catchy. The entire CD has a tendency to get stuck in your head, just playing in an infinite loop till your driven mad by the awesome.
Overall Impression — 10
This band can really stand up to any current band on the market. One song off this album has the quality of many entire albums by a number of popular artists. Take for instance the track Lady Luck. It begins with an amazing array of sweep picking perfectly executed, melting the senses of who ever listens to it, or the track I'm Just a Gypsy which reminds one of the days of Hendrix. I love this band because they are a breath of fresh air. They haven't signed to a label because they don't want to. They wish to play by their own rules and make the music they want to make. If this CD were stolen I probably wouldn't get it back simply because it more exposure for this truly awesome band.
