Doyle Bramhall Ii: Welcome

Sound — 10
Doyle Bramhall is a very under-rated guitar player. He has played with both of the Vaughan brothers and Stevie Ray Vaughan evan made Doyle his guitar. He is currently the rythem guitarist for Eric Clapton. The album has been we recorded and fits into the blues genre although the first track "Green Light Girl" is abit more rock.

The lyrics clearly relate to his life and are alot like most blues lyrics. Doyle has an amazing voice and this is used to the full. Very well written lyrics.Doyle Bramhall certainly has impressive rock & roll connections. His father played drums for Lightnin' Hopkins and Freddie king and he certinly has learnt how to write good lyrics.

Overall Impression — 9
Compared to Doyle's prevous albums this is much more relaxed and laid back. In one interview he said he wrote stuff as he was in the studio rather than coming in with every song ready to be recorded. Without a doubt he has got better with age. Some of my favourite songs include "Smokestack" "problem child"-Crazy solo! and "Blame" This is for fans of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton and Derek Trucks.
