The full title of the CD is Timepieces; The Best Of Eric Clapton. It does have many of his greatest songs, such as Layla and Cocaine, but the title o the CD is somewhat misleading. It doesn't have all his classics, even considering it was released in 1982. So in someways it is a bit disappointing, but saying that ll the songs on it, still show why Clapton is a guitar god. It doesn't even stick to one genre, it covers many of them. For example Layla, as we all know, and love, is a hard rock song, that ends in a soothing, slow piano solo. I Shot the Shriff, is a reggae classic, which Eric plays just as masterfullya s Bob Marley. he also slows it down for songs such as Wonderful Tonight and Knockin' on Heavan's Door. So I a way it is diffucult, nay, impossible to pin this down to one genre. Clapton is one of the very few artists who can play multi genres and still sound excellant. This Greatest Hits, may not be in reality a Greatest Hits, but if you don't have some of the osngs on it it is worth a look.

The lyrics of this album are all great. All the lyrics on every song fit in perfectly, be they a tribute to Clapton's drug of choice in the '70s, Cocaine, or a fiery love song crying out his love for someone else's wife, specifically Geoge Harrison's, in Layla. All the lyrics fit in beautifully. Ofcourse, not all the lyrics are Clapton's, Swing Low, SweetChariot, I Shot the SHeriff, and Knockin' on Heaven's Door, to be speicfic, he still, writes the music in such a way that he makes it intirelly his own. All in all the lyrics of the CD are excellant. Clapton's great singing voice, one of the greatest rock voices of all time, really make it complete.

This is a great CD worth a look, but if you already have most of the songs on the CD, there is no real point in buying it, it would be wasting your money. If you were to buy a Greatest Hits of Clapton, get a different one, such as the Cream of Clapton. eriously if I was to lose this, and was forced to buy another Clapton CD it wouldn't be this one. Don't get me wrong, this is a great CD, it's just that there are better Cd's by Clapton then this one. Though that doen't dispute the fact that this is still a very good cd, that represents Clapton's skill in all aspect's of guitar.
