Sound: This live DVD encompasses all of Eric Johnson's virtuosity in a live and real setting, displaying his technique with up close shots and beautiful camera work that is sure to impress. The DVD's sound quality comes across as fluid as it must have live, Johnson's unique tone (whether utilizing his delay, reverb, or simple clean tone) is never lost in translation from the live-to-DVD-switch. With the backing of drummer Tommy Taylor and bassist Chris Maresh, Johnson's sound is never "weak" or "tiny". Eric's playing is superb, and his technique varies from slide playing to his jazzy rhythm lines. Unfortunately, Maresh's bass tone can frequently over power Johnson's playing (check out his Cliffs of Dover near the end, Maresh begins to improv over Eric's solo, with less than favorable results). All in all, Johnson's clean and bright tone makes this DVD one of the best sounding around. // 8

Overall Impression: Overall, Johnson's playing ability alone is extraordinary enough to warrant the purchase of this DVD. His song selection, both of originals and covers, keeps the DVD flowing and makes sure you're not skipping songs. Aside from a few basic problems with volume control and the brevity of the set list (only 12 song counting bonuses), the DVD is worth it's retail price. Whether you're an inspiring virtuoso wanting to check out Johnson's technique first hand, or simply a fan of the man's work, be sure to check out this DVD. // 9
