In 2010, Submersed vocalist Donald Carpenter and Submersed drummer Garrett Whitlock left the band to join the newly formed supergroup Eye Empire. EE was formed out of the ashes of a previous supergroup, Dark New Day. The founding members were bassist Corey Lowery (his brother is Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery) and guitarist BC Kochmit, who had played together in DND. Guitarist Dixie Duncan was briefly in Eye Empire, but he left EE in 2010 along with Whitlock. In their brief lifespan, EE has also counted journeyman drummer Will Hunt in their ranks. The current drummer is former Texas Hippie Coalition member Ryan Bennett. Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose recorded the drums on "MOI", and Sevendust vocalist LaJon Witherspoon pops out on "Victim (Of The System)". In late 2010, EE released a limited 1000 copy edition of their debut album, "Moment Of Impact". Last year, the band re-released said album as a full physical release. EE sounds a lot like Sevendust, but there are differences. The biggest difference is that the riffs sound more melodic and every track has a solo. On songs like "I Pray" and "Bull In A China Shop", EE churns out chugging riffs and solos while Carpenter croons. Softer tracks like "Don't Lie To Me" and "Reason" show off their songwriting side. The overall result is at times jaw-dropping and mostly decent, but there are a couple of clunkers in there.

Donald Carpenter has a good voice. It's smooth sounding but he does get gritty at times. Unlike 7d, where Rose, Clint Lowery, and Witherspoon all contribute vocals, Carpenter is the main voice here. The lyrics he sings aren't special, but there's some meaning behind them.
Overall Impression — 7
The most impressive songs by far are "I Pray", "Ignite", "Angels & Demons", and "Victim". It compares mostly to Sevendust. I love the melodic yet thick riffing, and the solos add nice flavor to each song. The only gripe I have is that you feel like while listening to "MOI" is that this album could've been so much more than just a serviceable debut album.
