Sound: Flight of the Conchords made their Sub Pop record debut in 2008 wth the release of their self-titled album. Filled with songs from the first season of their hit HBO show, "Flight of the Conchords" still features most of the fan favorites, like the the strange ballad "The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room)" and the dancehall hit "Boom". The only downfall of the album is that is leaves out some real gems, like "Albi, The Racist Dragon" or "Sellotape" (though a double album would have been much too much). Overall, the album still contains a great number of fan favorites (with a great rendition of "Bowie") which shows the band paying homage to the likes of Radiohead, Marvin Gaye and of course, David Bowie. The band's stellar delivery makes this album still funny after a few listens. // 9

Lyrics: Being a comedy album, obviously the lyrics are meant to be funny, with the album highlights depending on your sense of humour. On this release the band sings about everything from "dicing a mutha'ucka like a mutha'uckin' fruit salad" to it being "time for business that's why they're called business socks". The lyrics are great, plain and simple, and the simple monotone and matter-of-fact delivery of them makes this album well worth more than one spin. // 10

Overall Impression: This year, Flight of the Conchords will be releasing the follow up to this album with songs from their second season. Any fan of this album should definately pick it up. Flight of the Conchords have managed to make a great debut with this album, capturing many highlights of their hit show. While it may not contain all the hits, it still has most of them, and would simply be too much if it contained all 20+ of the songs from the first season. People who've never seen the show ay not understand all the jokes, but that brings the perfect opportunity to walk back into the store and buy the show and understand what is Flight of the Conchords. // 9
