Green Day: 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hour

Sound — 9
Different approach to what I've heard - bought American Idiot, then Dookie, then this. Billie Joe's vocals are stil very distinctive, you know only he could think of the wacky lyrics and sing them in his style. Mike and drummer (forgotten his name) are very good too, with catchy bass licks and drum bits (whatever you call them, I don't know). Sound is very trashy and distorted, seem to use feedback alot. Excellent.

As I said, lyrics are very different to most other bands. Most of the songs are generated around Billie Joe wanting a girl/having a girl/losing a girl, and so are lovey but in a punk kinda way, but pulled off with style. Don't Leave Me, 1,000 Hours and At The Library are all good examples of this (and very good songs too).

Overall Impression — 8
Fav album out of 4 I currently have (American Idiot, Dookie + International Superhits). Very appealing to teenagers after a girl they can't get. Great album.
