Green Day: 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hour

Sound — 9
When you think Green Day, you probably think of that Emo wannabe band that all of the preteen girls love. But let me assure you, back in the day, they had some skill in writing music. The album was created in 1991 and Billie's voice apparently still had some deepening to do. Though the newest Green Day albums are filled with simple power-chord riffs, this album actually had a few ripping solos in it. My impression is wow.

Lyrics — 7
Most of the lyrics in this album are boring love song lyrics, but that doesn't slow down the songs any. Billie's singing isn't the best, but it's better than it is nowadays. The lyrics in the album tend to be a little repetitive, but all in all, they still serve their purpose as the melody.

Overall Impression — 9
This album is a lot like Kerplunk!, Green Day's second album, except for the solos. My favorite songs are Disappearing Boy, Green Day, 16, The Judge's Daughter, Only Of You, and I Wanna Be Alone. I it were stolen or lost, I would buy it again. And again.
