In Flames: Colony

Sound — 8
This album was the first In Flames album I bought and I just made the purchase on a whim. This album is simply amazing. In Flames prove they are one of the greatest melodic death metal bands around. Jesper Stromblad and Bjorn Gellote are amazing guitarists and prove it time and again on this album. They use constant melodies over hard-hitting riffs to create an amazing sound. The drumming of Daniel Svennson is impecable. Peter Iwers is always solid and Anders Frieden makes another great performance as one of death metal's best vocalists. The only weakness is the album can sound somewhat repetitive.

Lyrics — 10
The lyrics on this album or great. Each song talks about something completely different (a rarity in newer rock). Anders makes an amazing growl on this album. It's very intense while still inteligible.

Overall Impression — 10
This entire album is great. In Flames definently prove their signature sound on this album. Some personal favorites would have to be Embody the Invisible, Pallar Anders Visa, Coerced Coexistence, and Behind Space '99. Definently check this album, along with all In Flames albums, out as soon as possible.

Zombie Inc. is one to check out on this album. This album needs more reviews. But check out Zombie Inc. The song with the best solo on this cd.
