Iron & Wine: Woman King

Sound — 10
Sam Beam creates his masterful web of folkish indie music once again. This time he has matured his sound to greater hights with added electrical sounds and more defined aspect to the traditional Iron And Wine smoky southern folk sound.

Lyrics — 8
Beam as always writes meaningful lyrics and, while not especially deep, are very well thought out. He presents his stories and thoughts in a style that meshes very well with the musical style. It goes without saying in an Iron And Wine album that the vocal capabilities of Beam are amazing as he displays his talents through high pitched duets in multiple tracks.

Overall Impression — 10
Iron & Wine is uncomparable as I have never heard anything that quite sounds as well played and with such a distinct style as Iron & Wine. Most definitnly the mostim pressive songs on this six song EP are Jezebel and Gray Stables. The simple rythmic guitar in Jezebel captures the soul of the listener and the singer wonderfully, while Gray Stables provides a faster song with amazing vocals and lyrics. Most definitly the release of this EP marks a new pinicle in Iron & Wine's career.
