South Africa's own Stevie Ray Vaugnh! Although not a pure blues album there is no doubt in my mind where his inspiration comes from. Still a newcomer to the SA music scene, Jan took the country by storm with this album. His song "Breyten Se Brief" were voted best African's song for 2005.

Jan is clearly a gifted songwriter, guitarist and harmonica player. Previous life experiences gave him enough material for quite a few albums. He is a self confessed drug and alcohol rehab. And this is cleary audible in his lyrics. "Breyten Se Brief" is possibly the best song ever written in Afrikaans. Like most blues musicians his guitar playing ability outshines his vocal prowess. Still his voice is one of his best atributes.

Overall Impression — 9
He is clearly influenced by Stevie Ray Vaugnh. But still he's got a very invidualistic sound. Every song on this album is unique making it a real pleasure to listen. It's a shame that this album is only available in SA. Altough not one song is written in English you don't need to understand the lyrics to enjoy it!
