Sound: Any rock and roll music fan is familiar with at least one piece of John Fogerty's work, even if only subconsciously. His groundbreaking guitar playing and singing style, infused with significant elements of country and the blues, played a massive part in how the words Creedence Clearwater Revival were stitched into music history. Several of the band's greatest hits, including "Proud Mary" and "Born on the Bayou," have been widely recognized as being amongst the greatest classic rock songs of all-time. After the band eventually disbanded in the early '70s, John launched his highly successful solo career, and the rest is history. Now, John is making a bold comeback with his new solo album, appropriately titled "Wrote a Song for Everyone." How exactly is it appropriate? Because this new outing has John collaborating with an extensive list of all-star guest musicians on nearly every track. This new album is comprised of both re-recordings of his classic work throughout his solo career and CCR, as well as several brand new compositions. Although a collection of re-recorded greatest hits may not sound too exciting at first, the moment you pop in the disc and listen to John and the Foo Fighters jamming into "Fortunate Son," you know you're listening to something great. From there, John keeps up the pace, with additional standout performances from Bob Seger, Kid Rock, and My Morning Jacket. // 7

Lyrics: It's actually surprising to hear how well John's singing voice has kept up over the years. For a nearly 70-year old musician, to hear him continuously hit those same relatively high notes from throughout his catalogue is just amazing. Add that with the surplus of additional talent that joins him on this album, and you have an album that is built to please. // 8

Overall Impression: "Wrote a Song for Everyone" is an album that shows classic rock icon John Fogerty reaching out to wide spectrum of musical talent to join him in revisiting some of rock's most treasured anthems and some striking new compositions that in the end is absolutely standout. If you're a fan of his earlier outings, then this is an album that comes highly recommended. And no matter which musical genre you're a dedicated follower of, there's bound to be at least one song on this album that you will be able to passionately crank up to full volume, and so it's at the very least worth a quick listen.
