Lenny Kravitz is turning forty, and Baptism, his seventh album, reflects the approach and passing of that milestone. Lenny writes, arranges, performs, and produces every track. When I bought this album, I just couldn't take it out of my stereeo. It's addictive, but seems meaningless, unless you've been to a Lenny Kravitz concert (you must go, it's amazing), but, I found the lyrics really touching my soul. This album helped me get over a very difficult time, when my mum kicked me out of the house, and I had to live with my father (who is not very nice). The style in this, would be soft rock/jazz/alternative rock/blues. Also, there's some rap in there, as Jay-Z is featuring in one of the songs. This CD has a bad reputation, of being Lenny Kravitz's worst CD. I disagree. It's good.

Good lyrics at most songs. There were rumours that the whole album was written in a week or so, I don't know if that's true (if it is, that would be a bad thing). ALthough, not much hits on this album, it does have some soultouching songs. Some song's made me cry (like 'The Other Side'), and I'm a guy! I think this album is pretty personal to Lenny, and some songs involve his father's death. 01. Minister Of Rock 'n Roll - this was a groundshaking experience at the live show. This song, really shook the grond, but I don't like it as much on the CD, probably the heaviest song on the album. 02. I Don't Wanna Be A Star - I liked this song, but nothing too special. 03. Lady - this song was a minor hit, I don't like it too much, a bit cliche, or I don't know. 04. Calling All Angels - very soft song, with drums and some piano. I love it. it's sad, emotional, but helps through emotional times. 05. Califonia - another minor hit on the radio, but I quite like this song, although it doesn't go well with the album. It's sort of a black sheep between emotional and beautiful songs. 06. Sistamamalover - a jazzy, bluesy song. one of my favourites on the album. 07. Where Are We Runnin - this retro rock tracks was a really cool one, I think it was a radio hit, it certainly had a video. Nice one, Lenny! 08. Baptized - this song didn't get much media, but is my favourite. Lenny's voice touches your soul on this one. It's a beautiful song. Soft, jazzy. A love song. 09. Flash - this is kind of weird, I don't really enjoy this song. 10. What Did I Do With My Life - again one of my favourites. I love this song, I sang along to it, it's beautiful, it's slow. It's Lenny. 11. Storm - Jay-Z featuring in this song, I liked the song, until Jay-Z messed it up. 12. The Other Side - the most eautiful song on the album, and my favourite. Lenn'y voice and lyrics dig deep into your soul, anad make you cry. Cry out everything that is wrong, and once you trun the stereo off, you will smile, and say "I don't feel that bad anymore." 13. Destiny - an acoustic track, recorded live (without a studio) in Leny's apartement. I didn't like it much, not sure why, maybe the flow or tone. 14. Uncharted Terrain - this is supposed to be a bonus track, but I don't have it on my copy, so can't say much.

This might be the worst album for lenny kravitz, but only because the other ones we're just hit makers. This is a good album. Don't let anyone tell you it isn't. What I love about it? The personal songs of it. What I hate? Some song are like black sheep in the middle. If it was stolen, I'd buy a new one, definitely, even though I know the album by heart.
