Sound — 4
Linkin Park have established themselves as a typical nu-metal band, proved by there previous two albums Hybrid Theory and Meteora (not including reanimation or live in Texas). However there is a great change in there latest album Minutes To Midnight, where instead of there previous vibe have changed into a mellow, melodic sludge. Some of the song like the opening one "Given Up" still contain the old style metal that Linkin Park are good at but most of the other songs have gone to sappy for the old fans taste.

Lyrically speaking Linkin Park have again, like there sound, mellowed out, maybe a little too much. Again like my previous example "Given Up" there is still some of the hardcore vibe that Linkin Park possessed before. But then the at the other end of the scale "Shadow Of The Day" just turns into a boring, depressing drone of noise. For some people this maybe a better Linkin Park than before, but otherwise I wouldn't be too impressed.
Overall Impression — 4
After listening to the album countless times to see whether it would sound any better I eventually gave up, like I am sure so many other fans have done. Even though some of the songs still have Linkin Park's old, and true self the rest of the album is big disappointment. However I can say if you've heard one song that you like you may like the rest of the album, but if you didn't like it then don't ask for this album for your birthday (or at all). I think it's fair to say, Linkin Park, you've gained some new fans but lost a lot of old ones.
