Sound — 10
The sound on this album is truly the best I have ever heard for a death metal album. The guitars are crushing yet smooth and brilliant and the drums have a sharp (if not somewhat mechanical) feel to them. The keyboards are perfect for the style... As they do not take over the music but more-so create a mood and feeling around the music. Mastering and Mixing as I said are the best I have heard and this CD is nice and LOUD! The Band's playing style is dead tight and the song songwriting (more like composition in this bands case) is excellent. There are moments where the CD sounds almost "Carcass-esque" with spoken extracts at the end of tracks to bring more meaning to the songs. This album sounds very much like Deicide if Deicide decided to write music to be played at the National Concert Hall, epic and large with a "punch-in-the-face" sound that will leave the true Death-Metaler Hungry for more. Songs range from Crushing and Brutal to elegant and symphonic.

I paid little attention to the lyrics I must admit while listening to this CD. What I will say is that whatever lyrics were written they suit the music excellently in terms of Rhythm. The vocals are more for texturing the music I think in this case though, that and for the sake of tradition. I am of the opinion that Luciferion would be better as an instrumental group rather than even bothering with vocals. The singer certainly can growl though.. And has an Obituary like style that sounds great with the music. Overall I cannot complain and am obliged to give a decent score...
Overall Impression — 10
This is one of my favourite albums to listen to and has just about anything you could want in a Death/Technical-Death metal album. Great Vocals, Killer Guitar, Epic Composition, Beautiful Solos, Perfect Mixing and Mastering! I love all of the first 6 tracks, including a mind-blowing rendition of Celtic Frost's "Circle of the Tyrants" that injects a strange concoction of Adrenaline mixed with Viagra into the original classic (which was somewhat low-energy to be honest). This is on the top shelf along with "Cause of Death", "Alters of Madness", "Blood Rapture"... All my faavourites. Should this be stolen I would buy it again... In fact I would buy two so as to have a backup should it happen again. You know what... Never mind this damn review.. I'm going to go stock up on "The Apostate" CD's! Later!
