Lynyrd Skynyrd: Guitar Signature Licks [DVD]

Sound — 9
It's a pretty cool DVD, the man (Greg Koch's) explains the guitar part in the song very well, and even if he goes too fast for you, all you have to do is slow the DVD down so you can understand what he is saying. The DVD is perfect if you want to learn the main guitar parts in a song that you want too learn, he picked out a part from the song that he thinks' is the hardest to learn and sound's the coolest.

The DVD has eight songs that you learn the signature licks in them, the songs are(don't ask me no questions, Free Bird, Gimme Three Steps, I Know A Little, Sweet Home Alabama, That Smell, What's Your Name, You Got That Right). It's a pretty good list of songs in my opinion. The DVD contains him performing them then he will show you how to do what he just did and contains a few advertisements on other DVDs.

Production Quality — 9
The DVD is pretty much like any other DVD, it does not have any special features but it is very good quality. The man (Greg Koch's) explains at the end what equipment he used to get the right sound for each song. Before he shows you what to do he explains the song, how it was made ect. And what parts he is going to do.

Overall Impression — 9
It doesn't really compare to any other DVD's but it would have been better if he did the whole song instead of just a part of a song. The most impressive thing on the DVD is that he explains very clearly so you know exactly what to do. If this DVD was stolen from me I would maybe consider getting a DVD that does the whole song and not just a part of one.

I also have this DVD and think it is a good tool, although there are some flaws in it. He goes over a few important parts very quickly, which makes it hard to learn from the DVD, and he sometimes forgets to mention important things in each songs, and its hard to tell exactly what's going on when there is no direction from him. In general though, its a pretty nice tool to help you learn some great songs.
