Sound: The first official single by Marilyn Manson entitled Get Your Gunn. The single consists of 4 songs. Which are: Get Your Gunn, Get Your Gunn remix (Mother Inferior Got Her Gunn), a slightly altered version of Misery Machine, and a very bizarre song filled with reversed tracks and weirdo audio snippets called Revelation #9. And for some random Manson trivia, the boy on the front cover is Wes Brown, half brother of Twiggy Ramirez. // 7

Lyrics: 75% of the lyrics had previously appeared on the debut Manson LP Portrait of an American Family. Get Your Gun was inspired by Dr. David Gunn (hence the spelling), a physician specialized in OB/GYN, who was killed by Michael Frederic Griffin in 1993. Manson said his death was the ultimate hypocrisy. In the bridge you can hear an audio clip from the press conference, in which American politician Bud Dwyer shot himself. Which adds some much needed imagery for the song and subject matter. That is basically about hypocrisies in American politics. Revelation #9 contains some Portrait lyrics (My Monkey), the phone conversation that would later be May Cause Discoloration of Urine and Feces, as it reappears on Smells Like Children, a verse from Man That You Fear, some Willy Wonka, and some brand new lyrics. Some particularly enchanting veses include, "Don't tell your momma that I brought you here you're on the other side now there ain't no going back now," "If you call 407-997-9437... If you call 407-997-9437... ". Pogo said in an early interview that the song consists of 12 tracks, in which 6 are reversed. And it's equally playable in both directions. If you search the internet you can find the complete lyrics. It's almost thirteen minutes long. But so much is going on you'll forget how lengthy it is. I became addicted to it because of it's sheer creepiness and spiritually ruptured overtones. It almost sounds like it should have been on Smells Like Children, it is that twisted. // 9

Overall Impression: The only people who would care about this single are the hardcore Mansonites. So, if you haven't heard the remix Mother Inferior Got Her Gunn, or Revelation #9, find it and check it out. At least for the demonoid masterpiece Revelation #9. If I lost this single, I would probably just download the two songs on iTunes. // 10
