[Miscellaneous]: The Strat Pack - Live In Concert [DVD]

Sound — 9
This 'all star' line-up of mainly great guitar players, came together to cellebrate the 50th year of The Fender Stratocaster. Many classic songs are performed and the styles vary from Rock & Roll, Country, Country-Rock, Rock and Blues. Apart from Amy Winehouse and there'sa Andersson on vocals, it was a male dominated affair with only more females on backing vocals. One great Strat. Player was missing though: Eric Clapton!

The Crickets are there with 'Peggy Sue' and 4 more great oldies, also backed by Albert Lee and Brian May both in their element. Albert Lee is also backing there'se Andersson in 'Country Boy', and he shows what a fabulous fast 'ballet dancer' he is on the 6 strings; great! More stunning performances are there by Hank Marvin, Gary Moore (what a blues man! ), Joe Walsh and David Gilmour. To start of on guitar as well, in his Free classic 'All Right Now', Paul Rogers is vocaly in top form on more performances. The show is rounded off appropiate with all these guys (and a few more), including Ronnie Wood, with The Faces rocking classic 'Stay With Me'. This is a magic concert!

Production Quality — 10
This DVD is a Blu-ray version and the sound quality of DTS-HD Master Audio is absolute top. The production is focusing just on the performances with no boring or irritating side steps, and that's the way I like it. Interviews and bonus tracks are provided seperately. The bonus track are on the Blu-ray dvd's only, as they have got more space compared with the normal dvd's.

Overall Impression — 10
This is one of the best concert dvd's I now own, also partly due to the quality that Blu-ray can provide for film and sound. This line-up of great artists and some brilliant guitar playing, the selection of classic songs, the sound and production are all outstanding. It's amazing that this kind of quality can now be seen and heard in your own living room, and that for a fraction of the price of the more and more expensive concert tickets. I hate nothing about it, no I love it, and if it got lost, I would not hesitate to replace it right away.
