Mushroomhead: XIII

Sound — 8
Mushroomhead's music in this album is great. Mushroomhead has matured with XIII in numberous ways. They have mellowed out in some songs and gone deeper then ever with their music adding acoustic sound as well as both J mann and J. Nothing singing simutaneously (in such songs as Thirteen)

In the lyrical standings i would have to say it is relatively similar to past albums. J nothing has gone deep in such song songs as "no where to go" but hasn't there always been a deep meaning with mushroomhead?

Overall Impression — 10
Now this the main reason i wrote this review...Over the last month I have heard much disapproval of this album. Everyone seems to agree that it does not beat XX. There are aspects you have to see first though. XX is an album of their greatest hits, sorta speak, some of the songs are over 7 years old. XX was their ticket to combine 7 years of work in 1 album and grab the attention of such record companies as Universal. Well they did just that. Now this is a more recent Mushroomhead, it shows where they are today. They have great guitar riffs, skinny has gone crazy with his drumming and they have opened the gate for different style of music, from hip-hop to inustrial, acoustic to metal. Listen to the album for what it's worth and what it means, not if it compares to XX
