Nazareth: No Jive

Sound — 9
The sound on this album is pretty impressive, it is arguably, the best album Nazareth has ever had. If you compare this album with, for example, some of their early 70's albums, then the sound way better and cooler (thanks to Rankin's guitar work, but it doesn't mean that Manny Charlton is a bad guitarist). The music styles, of course, are Hard Rock, Arena Rock, Heavy Metal (here and there).

Lyrics — 9
The lyrics sound very inspired, and serious. They mix well with the music. The moods of the songs are very well represented by lyrics. Dan, as always, is on the top with his raspy alcohol and cigarettes voice, and is in total control of his voice. He hits every note where and when needed.

Overall Impression — 9
This album is as great (even greater than) AC/DC's "Razor's Edge". The most impressive songs on this album (which is also what I love about it the most) are "Cover Your Heart", a hard-rocking, not-corny, blow-up-your-brain love song, and "Every Time It Rains", a sweet, mild, rocking ballad.
