Sound: Amazing sound. Its Neil Young with Pearl Jam as a backing band. How could it not sound amazing? The distinctive crunchy Neil distortion is there, so are the great solos. Mike McCready really shines (check out "Peace and Love"). This album sounds like a group of guys playing music in a garage, because that is what it is. If you listen to "Downtown" it is obviously a run through that they nailed and put on the album. I give this a 5 because this is the way Neil Young's music is supposed to sound. // 10

Lyrics: Amazing lyrics of course. Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder co-wrote "Peace and Love" and Neil wrote the rest of the songs. "Fallen Angel" is reportedly about Kurt Cobain, and "What Happened Yesterday" is a short but sweet song borrowing the chord prgression from other songs off this album. From heartfelt love stories to scathing words against today's society, this is Neil Young at his best. // 8

Overall Impression: You can't compare this album to any others...it blows them out of the water. It mixes the classic Neil Young sound with Pearl Jam's amazing rhythm section of Stone Gossard (guitar) and Jack Irons (drums) with Mike McCready tearing up the fretboard with his amazing solos (Downtown, Big Green COuntry). If this album were stolen, I would buy it on CD, vinyl, tape, and minidisk. I can't go a week without listening to this masterpiece. // 10
