Sound: The band played well, very "grungy." Dave Grohl, as we all know, is such a hard hitting drummer, which went well with Kurt's brutal chord progressions. Since this video was taken in '92, they didn't have Pat Smear to fill the guitar parts while Kurt soloed, and Krist Novoselic on bass just couldn't complete the sound as well as another guitarist could. Kurt's voice was rough as ever, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but there was no auto-tune as the listener finds out after hearing Kurt shank a few notes here and there. Kurt also would have to improvise guitar parts after mistakes, like the solo of "Smells Like Teen Spirit," which wasn't very kind on the ear. Overall a good performance by Kurt and the band! // 8
Overall Impression: This is the classic live concert type video that Springsteen, the Stones, The Beatles, AC/DC, and countless other artists have done. Just the concert from start to end nothing else. I really liked how the audio of the band made it seem that you were there, it doesn't have that cellphone video sound to it, it was very well recorded. The only thing that I wish was better was the performance of "All Apologies," where the band falls apart in every aspect. If this DVD was stolen I would buy another. A great purchase!
