Not By Choice: Maybe One Day

Sound — 8
This is the purest pop-punk you can find. The guys from Not by Choice rely completely on catchy riffs, slightly distorted power chords, and loud music to make their sound. I've gotta hand it to them, they've actually made a completely new sound. Their sound differs because they don't play any slow songs, every song has a raging quick pace to it. However, much of the cd seems repetitive and it's hard to listen to the whole thing in one sitting. Listening to 5 or 6 songs at once seems ideal, because after that it always seems like you've heard the next song before on the cd.

Lyrics — 6
The lyrics are all right, but if these guys wanted to make a cd with feeling in it, they probably couldn't. The songs are too fast and too upbeat for these guys to express much emotion at all. Sometimes they do get a meaningful set of lyrics here and there, but not often. These aren't all that great, plus the lead singer's voice never, ever, changes.

Overall Impression — 8
This cd was allright, however I don't listen to it that often. Every once in a while its nice to listen to my favourite tracks on it again, but realistically, this is only for people who want something heavier than regular Blink 182 and Simple Plan, but lighter than NOFX. It's worth buying if you meet the above requirements.
