Sound — 10
Going back to 1986, arguable the greatest year for thrash metal and in that year Onslaught produce "The Force", their greatest record by far. This album is much improved on it's previous effort, Power from Hell. The band has been added to through Sy Keeler on vocals and Jase Stallard on guitar. Onslaught still retain much on the black metal influence on this record but also there is a greater inclusion of NWOBHM in it, which has created their own distinctive sound. The riffs on this record are extremely impressive and very catchy and there are so many on it. Solo's on it are all extremely well done even though they may be sloppy in some parts. The overall mix of the album is fantastic with the nothing being lost, the bass is audible, the great guitar riffs aren't lost and the vocals are clear and audible especially when he screams like Bruce Dickinson.
Lyrics — 10
The lyrics on this record are satanic as you may gather through the album artwork. The lyrics are about death and satan possessing you. These lyrics are quite extreme but yet they are so well written that you cannot help sing along to it. These lyrics go so well with the music and Keeler peforms them with the greatest of skill with the low barks and the high screeches yet you can understand them all and appreciate them.
Overall Impression — 10
The overall effectiveness of the album is fantastic. This is quite clearly their best album ever and can be considered in the top 5 thrash metal albums it is that good. Metal forces, contract in blood and thrash till death are my personal favourites but the rest of the songs are just as good. There is no faults in this album what so ever, it is just perfect. One of the most essential albums in thrash metal.
