"Losing Sleep" is the debut album from Virginia pop rock band, Parachute. The band is completed with a classic line-up of lead vocals, bass, guitar & acoustic guitar, piano and drums. Although the style of music is not a completely new idea, Parachute deliver their music with such a flare that it has the feel of something totally unique and never before heard. The drums are crisp and a joy to listen to throughout the album whether on slow songs like "The Mess I Made" or fast songs like "Words Meet Heartbeats". Moreover, the guitar and piano synchronise together perfectly with the two instruments taking it in turn to be lead in different songs - for example the guitar is lead on "The New Year" while the piano is lead on "She (For Liz)". Also the bass is played beautifully with a variation in techniques demonstrating skill and understanding of the music. To add an even more unique feel to the band, piano player Kit also plays a bit of saxophone on "Back Again".

Will Anderson, on lead vocals, oozes so much passion and soul into every word that comes out of his mouth making every song on the album come alive. To add to the unique flare of the band, Will has an amazing vocal range and an original sounding voice not heard in every pop rock band of the last five years. Will being the bands lyricist also adds to his vocals as the words being sang clearly mean a great deal to him. The lyrics, although often being about relationships of sort, have a sense of intelligence about them engaging and relating to audiences of most ages.
Overall Impression — 10
Hopefully Parachute will stick around for years to come as their sound gives hope to the dying genre of pop rock/pop punk that is currently filled with so many similar sounding artists, yes I'm talking to you All Time Low. There are no really bad songs on the album but the clear standout tracks are: "The Mess I Made", "All That I Am", "She (For Liz)", "Ghost" and "The New Year". Overall, the album is a must have with all lyrics and instruments damn near perfect and a very good range of songs from upbeat pop rock songs, "The New Year" to slow ballads "The Mess I Made" to even an acoustic song (featuring only vocals and acoustic guitar) "She Is Love".
