Sound — 10
This album has a ton of energy, and alot of great melodies. Most of the album is power-pop rock, but some songs are less poppy than others. Also, each song on the album is unique, unlike some albums where most of the songs sound the same. The songs have a good buildup of energy, and good climaxes. The pillows have a noticable influence from the Pixies, and one of the songs is even about the Pixies bassist, Kim Deal.
Lyrics — 8
The lyrics are in Japanese, but not in a distracting or annoying way. Translations can be found online. The lyrics themselves match up very well with the emotion the music gives, and the lyrics can be unusual sometimes (more influence from the Pixies). The singing is great and matches the emotion from the lyrics and the rest of the song well.
Overall Impression — 10
Out of all of The Pillows songs I've heard the ones from this album seem to be the most poppy. Some great songs from this album are Last Dinosaur, Carnival, Beautiful Morning With You, Advice. If this album was stolen I would be pretty upset about it. Other than it being a great album, it is import only, costs about 30$, and is about to go out of print. Although it is expensive it is worth all the money spent on it. The packaging is pretty good, has the songs listed on the back and is easy to read. All titles, headers, and captions are in engrish. There are lyrics in the booklet along with some pictures from the recording studio, and from some touring. I said that The Pillows where inflenced alot from The Pixies, and they where, but if you like The Pixies there is a pretty good chance you wont like The Pillows. The Pillows have a cleaner sound, more energy, and more melody then The Pixies.
