Sound: Prince was an incredible guitarist of the '80s. His unique style of music was funk, rock or dance. This 17-track album includes some of his famous hits such as 'Purple Rain', 'Let's Go Crazy' and 'Raspberry Beret'. The opening track, named 'I Wanna Be Your Lover', begins with some funky guitar and is still today a disco floor-filler. Next is '1999', begins with some organ-type sounds, then some funky guitar and a steady beat. Not all of the songs featured on this album are just funk and dance. He does slower songs, for example, the eight-minute 'Purple Rain', which contains a legendary solo. It shows that Prince does not just play funky music on the guitar, but when it comes to playing a solo, he is phenomenal. Another song, named 'Let's Go Crazy', contains the same type of solo at the end, and machine-gun drums. One song named 'When Doves Cry' contains an awesome solo at the beginning, but then goes into pop music. Although most of his music is funk/dance, it is definitely worth buying as you can listen to some of his great solos. // 10

Lyrics: Not only he is an outstanding guitarist, Prince has lyrical writing skills. Every song on this album was written by Prince, although some he co-wrote with The New Power Generation. Some of his songs contain dialogue. He has got a high-pitched singing voice some of the time, although his voice is suprisingly low-pitched. Unlike the majority of other artists, his voice suits his music. For example, you couldn't picture Kylie Minogue singing 'Purple Rain'! I think his voice is phenomenal and unique. // 8

Overall Impression: The most impressive songs on this album are 'Purple Rain' and 'When Doves Cry' without a doubt. What I love about this album is his unique style of guitar-playing and his style of singing. There isn't anything I dislike about this album at all. If this album got stolen/lost, I would definitely buy it again. To end this review, this album is a classic. // 9
