Sound: This DVD is not a display of RHCP's music so sound really isn't a factor. It's a look at the making of Blood Sugar Sex Magik, the Red Hot Chili Pepper's album that made them bigger-than-big. It tells many stories, shows you how John was right before he quit the band and even how weird all the band members are. It's designed for the hardcore fans who want to know more than the sound, and hey: it worked out for me. // 10

Overall Impression: It's not for everyone. Its not a starter's kit for future Red Hot Chili Peppers fans. But convinced you have to know all about the time Flea shat in the fart contest? Or the girls Chad likes in his pornos? How about who won the mutton chops contest (Flea vs. John)? This DVD is for you if you said yes to any of that. Interesting, (obviously) real characters star in this documentary; with meaningful lines spewed out by the members of the band and some heartfound moments throughout it. If you're obsessed with RHCP, this DVD will be your favorite. If you're not obsessed, you'll throw it away on a shelf and rarely watch it again. You probably can relate to it if you're in a band either way. However I'm in a band and obsessed with the Peppers, this DVD is one of my favorites. I'd buy it if I lost it. I would pay $50 for it if I lost it. It's worth a lot to me, it is a classic to me. Is it for you? // 10

Sound: I found this DVD not only interesting but entertaining as well. Seeing the band members discuss the recording and sound of the album is interesting to me not only as a musician, but as a teen interested in Audio Engineering. I was very pleased with the black and white cameras, I think it gave the video a very "vintage" feel. Just as warning, I don't think too many non-musicians would enjoy this as much as musicians. // 8

Overall Impression: This DVD doesn't fail to impress, entertain and inform anybody who has an interest in recording and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. As stated earlier, it would be nice if the DVD included full song performances, but all the interesting scenes make up for the lack of music. I'm not going to say what I would do if someone stole it, because I'll make sure it's in a safe place to ensure it's safety. // 10
