The dirty, mashed up guitar sound so reminiscent of nineties grunge is the thread that links all the diverse songs on this album together.

Sound: What the hell has happened to Reuben in the last year? Their previous album 'Racecar Is Racecar Backwards' was great, but 'Very Fast Very Dangerous' is absolutely amazing! Their style is basically the same with pop-rock gems like 'A Kick In The Mouth' mixed with screamo classics like 'Blamethrower' but its been taken to another level. The drums are BIG and the hooks are even better. Reuben look set to be huge! It's worth noting that this entire album was written by the time 'RIRB' hit the shelves and thats why it was released only a year later. // 10

Lyrics: Jamie lenmans lyrics have always been good, but he's really starting to showthrough as real great writer of rock songs. 'Nobody Loves You' and 'Best Enemies' are two of the best rock ballads I've heard in years, while 'A Kick In The Mouth' and 'Keep It to Yourself' will appeal to people of a pop-rock persuasion. Screamo is still prevalent in songs like 'Alpha Signal Three' and 'Blamethrower'. Most of the lyrics show a band that are really pissed-off with the world. Kind of like a very angry Foo-Fighters. But the ballads are a real strong point too. // 9

Overall Impression: This was an amazing return from Reuben. And they look certain to be a huge band in the future. stand out tracks include 'A Kick In The Mouth', 'Best Enemies', 'Keep It To Yourself', 'Lights Out' and the brilliantly titled 'Every Time A Teenager Listens to Drum & Bass A Rockstar Dies'. This band is definatley onr to check out. For fans of hard-rock, emo, screamo and hardcore. // 10
