Sound — 10
Most all songs are good. The 4 bonus studio tracks are excellent quality. 8 songs are from a 2001 demo independently released. 4 "new" versions are added to it as bonus tracks. The 8 are better than most demos I have heard. They do not sound low budget like a vast majority of demos. Styles range from brutal death metal to speed metal to thrash. Each song is quite different from the last, so this band's CD will not loose your interest due to repetition. They are a speed metal band, yet they posses a diversity not many choose to incorporate on 1 CD.
Lyrics — 6
The lyrics are the week point of the band. The CD has no liner with lyrics. Alot are inaudible. The ones you can decipher make no sense. The skill is there. Range from Chris Barnes type to Tom Araya. Skill level is great but the content is poor.
Overall Impression — 8
This CD has 8 "demo" tracks, and 4 "bonus" new studio versions of 4 of the demo songs. Yes, it is a tongue twister, but very simple to understand. The demo versions of the songs are fair in sound quality. The music is very good. The songs are structured well and the composition is extremely well captured. As for metal/thrash bands, SA-Sanctuary is better than most. The songs on the CD do not follow a "theme." Most songs have a different feel than the last. Keys are incorporated into some songs, giving a European metal feel. My favorite ones are Culture Of Death, The Assessment, and Deep Inside. They are in the Slayer style, but with a Fear Factory feel. I would replace this disc if something happened to it. The CD costs $9 and change, so it is well worth buying. The drums are very fast, the guitar picking speed is quite impressive. The vocals are good, but content is poor.
