Sound: Many people would cringe at the sight of this album due to the loss of Saxon's original bassist Paul Johnson. However, his replacement, Nibbs Carter, lives up to the Saxon standard of asskickery. He wrote many of the songs on this album, including 'Bavarian Rhapsody', the intro and a really dark sounding, technical, and intricate bass solo. It flows right into 'Crash Drive', which opens by distorted bass. Like all Saxon albums the guitar riffs are crunchy, headbangable, and therefore metal. It is better produced than the previous Saxon albums and is also much darker sounding as a whole. I think it's just what they needed. It makes them sound that much more kick ass. // 10

Lyrics: Lyrics in this album actually aren't that much different from the other Saxon albums, except for the music it's layered on. You can tell that the lyrics were written for the music. In the end, his voice isn't that much different, and his lyrics are still rock and roll. // 9

Overall Impression: This album is great, from the beginning to end. The truly impressive thing is the intro to the album, which really hooks you in to it. The only thing I don't like about this album is that towards the end the tracks sound kind of similar to the early ones. Not that it's really that important because they all kick ass, but there's not a lot of variation towards the end. It would probably be a lot better if they had switched some of the tracks around. But it still kicks ass. // 9
