Well well well, what can I say about Mesmerize? I've been really excited about this album. I love System and when I heard this album, I was dissapointed. Yes, a there were a few tracks were good. Some tracks I love. Stand out songs were: Soldier Side, Question! and Lost In hollywood. But songs like Violent Pornography and Old School Hollywood did not sound like System Of A Down at all and they were very dissapointing. Some riffs were good, but the songs got boring. So, alot of the songs were boring, too thrashy, or just not interesting to listen to. On a good note. Like I said before, some of the guitar is alot more interesting with some great clean bits, and I would suggest to learn them.

Serj is a great singer, one of my favourites. And he shows this in Mesmerize, but maybe not in the right way. And Daron seems to want to take over singing as well, he sung a lot of the parts, some like in the verse of Sad Statue just sounded crap and out of key, his singing there ruined that song for me. Some of the lyrics were too fast, not many of them had passion. A lot of the lyrics were just scream really fast or really high.

Overall Impression — 8
More dissapointing things was that there were only 11 tracks and the whole album went for about 36 minitues. It's not like writing one more song would kill them! This album sounded like a bit joke. Aerials, had no meaning to it when they wrote it, but the way the song came across was powerful, unlike this album. I would suggest to burn this album from a friend first before, buying it. I'm sure this album would appeal to some people, but just not me.
