System of a Down: Mezmerize

Sound — 10
It's different than anything System Of A Down's done previously. There are spanish guitar influences that are quite evident in tracks such as Violent Pornography and Sad Statue. This album is different enough from traditional SOAD to take in new fans, but familiar enough to entice traditional fans back.

Lyrics — 10
Nothing new with the lyrics. They may not make sense to the casual listener, but read into 'em, and it makes all the difference. What's also impressive about Daron Malakian and Serj Tanakian's writing skills is the ability to deliver a powerful message while still making us laugh. Tracks like Cigaro and Violent Pornography both have meaningful messages, accompanied with hilarious lyrics. You can't help but laugh, even if you don't have a sense of humor.

Overall Impression — 10
There are eleven tracks on this CD, and each one is the best. If you've actually taken time to read this review, go out and buy the CD now!
