Sound: Sing Sing death house has an amazing sound. It's hardcore punk rock and does not sound fabricated or poppy at all. It ranges from hardcore headbanging balls-out rock (Sick Of It All, Sing Sing Death House, bullet and the bullseye, Hate Me) to not poppy but more mainstream rock with tracks like City Of Angels and I am a revenant. Its not like the White Stripes music where you can hear that it is not filtered through computers. It's more of a grungy Nirvana-ish sound. // 10

Lyrics: The lyrics are thought out and tell the truth. Songs like Sick Of It All tell of teenage troubles and the problems thay youth have today where-as the song The Young Crazed Peeling is the best punk rock biography ever. You can tell the lyrics are heartfelt and they can compete with the best of them. // 10

Overall Impression: Overall this CD is a-freaking-mazing. The best songs on the album are Sick of it all, the young crazed peeling, hate me, and the title track sing sing death house. If your a fan of hardcore punk or hard rock then pick this up NOW. The only beef I have with the CD is the song Lordy Lordy. It takes a kind of country-ish approach to punk. Note to other artists: DONT EVEN TRY. Brody said she was influenced by Courtney love and you can hear it. Pick this up NOW.Peace Out. // 8

Sound: Well Brody Dalle, Tim Armstrong of Rancids ex-wife, sure prooves she has a voice full of gravel, and that ain't no insult!. The Distillers are a hardcore punk-band, and there a good one at that. Songs such as 'Hate Me', are not very undestandable and you have to read the inlay booklet to know what Brody is saying, mind! The songs that stand out are 'Young Crazed Peeling', 'Lordy, Lordy', 'Sick Of It All', 'Sencea Falls' and 'city Of Angels'. // 8

Lyrics: Brody Dalle is a lyrical genius! songs such as 'Young Crazed Peeling' and 'Sick Of It All' give you an insight in to a troubled Brody! // 10

Overall Impression: Well if you want to get in to The Distillers, this is definitly the album to start with! Excellent guitar playing from Brody and Casper! Go buy it! If it was stolen/lost I'd definitly replace it. This album shows you Brody has fuckin' balls! And she shows the teresarone laden punk scene that a woman can do it to! 'Young Crazed Peeling' is definitly the stand out song! There's nothing I really hate about it apart from the odd song is a filler and is a bit noisy. // 10

Sound: The sound is extremely punk. Brody definitely did not let the change in line-up from "The Distillers" to "Sing Sing Deathhouse" affect the sound at all. Most of brody's vocals are scratchy and "flawed" but that makes the album even better. // 10

Lyrics: The lyrics on this album tackle many issues. The album opens with "Sick Of It All" - a song about how the members of the Distillers turned to music to vent their emotions rather than violence and stuff. Then, "Seneca Falls" pays tribute to two of America's strongest women of the past - Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady. "The Young Crazed Peeling" is about Brody's childhood. "City Of Angels" is about L. A. and the people in it. "Young Girls" is about Brody's childhood friend - "Girtie Rouge." And "Desperate" is about Brody's battle with drugs. Very passionate lyrics. // 9

Overall Impression: This is the best album from the Distillers. It is better than the self-titled album b/c the lyrics are more well written and it is better than Coral Fang because it is a lot less "produced." The best songs are "Sick Of It All," "Sing Sing Death House," "Young Crazed Peeling" and "City Of Angels." // 10
