The Offspring: Americana

Sound — 10
Should the words "catchy" and "punk" go together? In the case of The Offspring, yes. The Offspring are a great band, even if they are sellouts. Their sound on this album is much different from their early stuff. It is more poppy and mainstream, but doesn't stray from their punk rock roots. The guitars are great and Dexter's voice was never better. You know how some bands "mature" as they go on? Well, with this album you could say that The Offspring "immatured." Need an example? Listen to Pretty Fly.

Dexter Holland is a great singer. His lyrics on this album are, like I said, poppy, immature, and silly. But in the case of The Offspring, that makes for a great song. Great lyrics.

Overall Impression — 10
This, I would have to say, is The Offspring's best album (not including Greatest Hits). It is catchy and punk at the same time, just like most offspring songs. A great Offspring album, and album overall. Go but it.
