Sound: Tobymac's latest offering, 'Welcome To Diverse City', epitomizes what he is all about: Diversity. Each track seems to have it's own unique take on a style or genre, with elements of hip-rock-soul, DC Talk style pop-rock, RnB and even a slight hint of reggae in places. Although a different kettle of fish from his debut solo album 'Momentum', it is most certainly pleasing to the ears. // 9

Lyrics: Focusing on topics such as racial diversity, the coming of Christ, and getting through hard times with God's help, Tobymac's lyrics offer both uplifting sensations and cynical, hard-hitting gestures. The album even pokes fun at the Pharises, sarcastically branding them as the Illuminati. I thought his swansong for Music writing was on it's way, clearly not. // 7

Overall Impression: This album promised new flavours, new sounds, and promised to be Tobymac's best effort yet. Although the album could have been trimmed by about 15-20 minutes, the few tracks that hindered the album from getting 10/10 should not eclipse the fact that this is a very, very good album. // 9
