Sound: Nick J Townsend is the "lunatic" behind WEAK13 he composed all the instruments (with some exceptions on all his tracks) however he wouldn't be able to perform them all on his own, so he is joined on stage by Neel Parmar (Drums) and Wesley Smith (Bass) so WEAK13 had a makeover and became a three piece live act.

"LIVE AMMO is a live experimental album and a music experience, a test of a musician" - This is a very brave a bold move for any musicians! Did this experiment work?... // 10

Lyrics: There is nothing "weak" about this strong raw sound! Except maybe the emotions and vunerability displayed in songs such as, "Wakedown"! There's no tricks or fancy effects but that doesn't mean your not in for a treat! Its the sheer talent, individuality, effort and simplicity that makes it so appealing... WEAK13 has such as raw underground yet catchy sound!

First track, "Lunatic" is a great raw, emotional, grunge song. Its very liberating which I think we can all relate to. Its crazy how infectiously catchy this song is! Want to be free?!.. Listen to this inspiring and eye opening song!

"Nothing To Lose" was made by the use of household items to give a natural industrial drum kit/percussion sound. Its very effective and unique very stripped down to the bare bones, this just shows that sometimes its better to use "nothing" rather than throw in everything!

"Wake Down" is a pure experimentation with lots of crazy sounds and blend of genres, a hint of thrash, '90s techno and industrial. The strange effects used to simulate the sounds of war and gunfire really work and create suspense and atmosphere. The clean breakdown towards the end of the song is filled with such emotion. A lot of creative thought went into creating a guitar sound that sounded like soldiers screaming! And the pure heartfelt emotion from Nick will tug your heartstrings! Also in 2010 the band's music video "Wake Down" won the award for "Best music video" in the London Limelight Film & Arts awards, the music video had an estimated budget of 400'000. This became the most expensive music video for WEAK13 to date.

"My Last Partner" unlike most of the other songs it has quite upbeat chords, but with a dark and sinister edge and negative context. The song seems almost effortless which strangely makes it more appealing!

"Prouder Than U2" this is a great rebellious and inspiring track that encourages you to be yourself. The great rap beats and rhythms really work and create a great metal underground noise! // 10

Overall Impression: This is one EP that should get you fired up with angst, energy and passion! There is so much emotion, honesty and meaning behind these 8 tracks which can sometimes be hard to find this album is a real eye opener! It shows the "weak" side of Nick J Townsend. I'd take advantage of this great free EP while its up for grabs! Download it free from here. // 10
