Weezer: Make Believe

Sound — 10
Very solid CD by Weezer, it's definitely an improvement over Green and Maladroit. It's got a different sound on it than any other releases. A lot more slow songs on it. I think they did a good job experimenting a little, they've never done anything like "Freak Me Out" before and that song has grown on me.

I was not impressed by the lyrics on Make Believe. Rivers' has shown that he can write some pretty solid lyrics, like on Pinkerton and The Blue Album. The lyrics are extremely simple, and don't have any of the thought that was on previous releases. But he's singing like he gives a crap now so that's good.

Overall Impression — 8
Overall, I think I would rate this behind Pinkerton and Blue. My favorite songs are "Perfect Situation," "Peace," and "Haunt You Everyday." "Haunt You Everyday" is the perfect closer for the album, and it's just a great song. I can overlook "Beverly Hills" because most of the other songs are pretty solid. Definitely satisfied with this release.
