This song is the REAL "Ocean Avenue." The acoustic sound just makes it more relaxed and exotic, like a beach. It also feels more mature (like the Yellowcard fans that have been around since the original album came out).

Sound: This is the first release off of Yellowcard's new album, "Ocean Avenue Acoustic." The album is basically an acoustic version of the bands debut album "Ocean Avenue" (2003).
This song is the REAL "Ocean Avenue." The acoustic sound just makes it more relaxed and exotic, like a beach. It's like you can romantically sit there, grab your acoustic, and serenade your girl, but don't get me wrong, you can still jam and rock to this track with your band. It also feels more mature (like the Yellowcard fans that have been around since the original album came out). You can tell how much Ryan Key's voice (the band's lead singer) has grown in the past 10 years, which is the point. The album is celebrating "Ocean Avenue"'s 10th anniversary.
Over the past 10 years, Yellowcard has gone through several guitarists and bassists. It's great to hear a new spin on an older track. // 9
Lyrics: If you liked the original electric version, you'll love this one. Yeah, it's the same exact lyrics, but they are sung differently. I'm not saying they changed the melody, it's the change of emotion. Like I said before, you can serenade your lover to this version. I don't know if it's modern-day technology, but Key's voice is 10 times better on this track than the old one. Sean Mackin's voice (Yellowcard's violinist and back-up singer) is beautifully hinted in the background of the chorus and bridge. // 8
Overall Impression: The release of this single has made me a lot more excited for this new album. Yellowcard said they totally re-imagined a few tracks from the original record. It will be a perfect summer album. The only thing that upsets me about this album is that there is no new material.
Yellowcard will be headlining an Acoustic Ocean Avenue tour where they will be performing the acoustic album from start to finish and then an electric set. More information can be found on the band's website, yellowcardrock.com. This was definitely the best song off of "Ocean Avenue" (probably in the band's whole career), but if Yellowcard has released it as the first single, then the other songs have to be spectacular.
