Sound: This DVD is more of a peek at what Metallica was up to during their 'Black Album' days. This record was their first with producer Bob Rock, and it also led them to a new sound, along with a whole bunch of frustration, as seen in the film. Being a big Metallica fan, I found it interesting to see all that the band had gone through to make this amazing album, which ended up as probably their best album to date. // 9

Content: This film follows the guys around, whether it be shows, around the studio, at hotels, etc. You can watch as all their album 'Metallica' is being put together. It follows the band struggle to perfect the amazing songs on this album aswell as showing how they crafted each song, especially Enter Sandman and Sad But True, which they worked on frequently. It also shows how, above all, the guys from Metallica are somewhat normal and they too like to mess around and have fun. // 9

Production Quality: While I really enjoyed the film, I felt that the quality of it could have been a bit better. The cameras used only seemed to be average quality cameras, while the band could have afforded better ones. There weren't any special effects used in the film, it only follows the band around, so there really isn't a need for anything fancy. They did however do a very good job at capturing that signature Metallica tone, which I really appreciated. // 7

Overall Impression: Overall, it the better band-DVDs that I have ever seen, and the only one that follows the band so closely and personally. The band also jokes around throughout the film, which made it very entertaining, in my opinion, and it wasn't just following the process of making the CD. I love everything about this DVD, except for some aspects of the overall production of it. If I were to lose this DVD, I would definitely go out and buy a new one. // 9
