Price paid: $ 830

Purchased from: Hong Kong - Tom Lee

Features: The FR1620 is made in Japan. Has a flawless rosewood fretboard with 24 jumbo frets. It has a tele style body which is made from Ash and the neck is made from 5 piece Maple/Walnut. The finish is black, it collects all the dust and gets scrathed easily. Has a "Tight-end" bridge, claims that it increases sustain but the increase isnt really noticable. Has 2 passive CCR humbuckers, they have low-moderate output, which i didn't really like. The guitare has a 5-way selector, 1 volume and 1 tone knob. The tuners are non-locking gotohs and they are perfect. It includes a hardcase but it easily cracks. // 8

Sound: It doesn't have a lot of output so its not a good guitar for metal. But theres a lot warmness and good mid-range on the neck pickup, has a crunchy distortion and hot clean tone. The bridge pickup goes really muddy with high-distortion but has a bright clean tone. I use it with a Line 6 POD XT processor, Boss DS-2 disstortion , Vox wah pedal with Marshall amps. It can be played in a wide variety of styles but it cant give the right tone of heavy metal, way too low output. // 8

Action, Fit & Finish: The guitar was flawless, but the set-up was awful. The intonation was way off and the action was way too high. I went back to the shop and wanted them to fix it, but they didint. So I went to a luthier and it was fixed for a low price. // 6

Reliability & Durability: The guitar will withstand a live playing, its really reliable and durable. The strap buttons are solid too, but the knobs are weak and it just goes floppy if its turned a little more. The finish looks strong but suprisingly a paper towel can scrath it. // 7

Overall Impression: I've been playing guitar for 5 years and this guitar satisfies my style. It is my first proper electric guitar, I am a Acoustic player and I own a Ibanez AES20BK Acoustic. If this guitar was stolen I would probably buy another one, because with this budget, I can buy a better guitar easily. I love its flawless fretboard and it has a really cool pickguard too. Well just buy a Gibbson instead of this. // 7
